The Linux Systems Administrator maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency. Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts. Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Install, configure, and maintain infrastructure components in a virtualized Linux Environment. Fully manage the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers. Administer, troubleshoot, and resolve failures and critical alerts on Linux servers. Provide support during off hours for system maintenance and system outages. Utilize Ansible, RedHat Satellite and other Linux tools to support environment. Install third-party software. Demonstrated experience administering Linux systems in cloud environments, including hands-on work with Microsoft Azure and executing or supporting cloud migration projects. Install, configure, and maintain DISA STIG Compliant infrastructure components in a virtualized Linux Environment. Implementing DISA STIG configuration settings following change management best practices. Fapolicyd configuration experience. Maintain system files (groups, hosts, email aliases). Understand system access control and security aspects of critical systems. Demonstrate in day-to-day work adherence to security best practices and Technology Services access control and security policies. Monitor and coordinate with customers on monthly patching. Demonstrate day-to-day adherence with change control precepts and practices. Write technical operating system documentation. Ensure excellent Customer Service throughout the Enterprise Systems Operations group. Understanding of selinux and user role mapping. Integrating RHEL servers to AD directly. Knowledge and understanding of containers and configuration using with AAP. Understanding of how bind works and maintaining. Familiar with Satelltie, content views, adding repo's, updating manifests. Experienced with bash scripting / AWK / SED / YAML Utilizing splunk / Tivoli / and log files to troubleshoot problems. Understanding and implementing industry standards and best practices. Participate or lead small team efforts within Technology Services. Ensure excellent Customer Service throughout the Enterprise Systems Operations group. Working with others, analyze and translate business requirements into a solution design for new installations or upgrades to existing platforms. Manages and provides operational support of data availability and retention systems such as server and SAN based backups and enterprise level backup solutions.
