About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Linux Kernel Engineer to join our team. This role involves deep work within the embedded Linux environment, focusing on kernel development, build systems, and ensuring seamless integration of hardware and software components. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the entire product lifecycle, from development to manufacturing and support, with a passion for continuous learning and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Embedded Linux experience, including build system, kernel configuration, device drivers, boot loader, device tree, and filesystem.
  • Core application development skills.
  • Network configuration expertise.
  • Testing experience.
  • Proficiency in C and Python.
  • Linux shell scripting.
  • Bitbake build management (creation and maintenance of recipes).
  • Experience with uBoot bootloader/bootstrap.
  • Fluency in IP networking.
  • Ability to clearly document work and cross-train related areas.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to understand product end-to-end scope and identify/initiate work.
  • Tenacity in troubleshooting and root cause investigation/analysis.
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write).

Nice To Haves

  • WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS, LTE wireless data experience.
  • HTML/HTML5, PHP, SQL experience.
  • RS232 Serial experience.
  • Understanding of underlying system hardware/circuitry.
  • Experience integrating embedded devices with cloud/device management systems.
  • REST APIs experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded Linux systems, including build systems, kernel configuration, device drivers, bootloaders, and filesystems.
  • Develop core applications and manage network configurations.
  • Utilize Bitbake for build management, including the creation and maintenance of recipes.
  • Work with uBoot bootloader/bootstrap.
  • Ensure fluency in IP networking.
  • Clearly document work and cross-train related areas such as manufacturing and technical support.
  • Understand the product end-to-end scope and initiate work to achieve required functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis.
