This position is responsible for performing duties required in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems. The Lineworker Apprentice 3 will demonstrate mastery and continue duties of Apprentice 1 and Apprentice 2, construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment, and work lines and equipment energized with higher voltage only after successful completion of Apprentice 2, after successfully completing hot line training with recommendation of the supervisor and the approval of the manager. The role involves inspecting existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment, correcting and reporting problems and hazards, maintaining and operating vehicles and equipment, investigating trouble on lines and locating cause of power outages, and maintaining and servicing tools and equipment. The position also includes performing rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device, working on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, and performing more complex duties of a Lineman under general supervision with some instruction. The role requires participation in and successful completion of training, diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulations, and collecting delinquent accounts. The Lineworker Apprentice 3 must be available for call-out duty, operate PEC vehicles in accordance with policies, maintain driver eligibility, maintain the security of confidential information, and stay abreast of advances in technology. The position also requires regular and prompt attendance and may involve directing the work of others in emergency situations or facilitating meetings and speaking in front of large groups.
