About The Position

The Linen Associate demonstrates proficiencies in hospital daily linen responsibilities, including sorting soil linens, processing clean linen, and providing nursing units with necessary linens. This role requires excellent work ethics, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The associate must be responsible, flexible, and adaptive to work schedules, taking pride in the quality and quantity of linens produced while maintaining a professional image.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent work ethics, self-motivated, strong customer service skills and works well in a team environment.
  • Responsible, flexible and adaptive to work schedules, takes pride in quality and quantity of linens produced.
  • Maintains a good professional image.
  • Must be able to push, pull or lift at least 25 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop or stretch frequently.
  • Must possess four acute faculties of: seeing, hearing, touching, and smelling.
  • Be able to work in Extreme Heat and Humidity majority of the time.
  • Exposure to heavy concentration of airborne lint.

Responsibilities

  • Sort soil linens in accordance with department and organizational policies.
  • Process clean linen and maintain adequate levels throughout the day.
  • Provide nursing units with necessary linens and exchange carts.
  • Observe and report any safety hazards to the Laundry Manager, Laundry Mechanic, or Linen Specialist, and follows procedures for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to produce laundry to specifications in an efficient and cost-effective manner using various pieces of equipment.
  • Accurately record production and delivery data on specified worksheets and portable data terminal.
  • Meet the needs of those served through continuous improvement as specified in customer satisfaction measures.
  • Always willing to help others within or outside of the department on a voluntary basis.
  • Attend all work-related in-service training and meetings assigned and applies training within the work environment.
  • Comply with policies relating to time and attendance.
  • Respond positively and adapt well to changes in organizational structure and unscheduled changes which may interrupt normal routine within the department.
  • Perform all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
