The Lineman / Press Operator / Maintenance Mechanic supports production operations and performs equipment and facility maintenance within a carbon and graphite manufacturing environment. This hands-on position prepares materials, operates production equipment, and performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to maintain safe and efficient operations. Maintenance responsibilities include mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems, along with plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance within the employee’s training and qualifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of industrial maintenance, maintenance mechanic, or related hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, HVAC, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and routine HVAC maintenance.
  • Experience operating presses, furnaces, or other manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment problems and perform appropriate repairs.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, equipment manuals, basic drawings, and schematics.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance practices and maintenance documentation.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to recognize when a repair requires a qualified specialist and notify the supervisor.
  • Basic computer skills for entering maintenance records and accessing work instructions preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Practical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Clear communication with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
  • Ability to organize tasks and respond to changing production and maintenance priorities.

  • Must be a "U.S. Person" (per ITAR 120.15) and are required to show proof substantiating this upon being hired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with material processing operations throughout the production department.
  • Load and unload processing equipment with raw materials and finished products.
  • Operate presses and other production equipment after completing required training.
  • Operate furnaces used to melt metal, monitoring temperatures and following established processing instructions.
  • Prepare materials for processing and assist with final production stages.
  • Inspect materials and processed products for visible defects and report quality concerns.
  • Follow work instructions and production schedules to support timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to reduce downtime and maintain reliable operation.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical components, including motors, bearings, belts, pumps, and drive systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, including air lines, valves, cylinders, and regulators.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs within the scope of training, qualifications, and authorization.
  • Perform general plumbing maintenance and repairs, including addressing leaks, replacing fixtures, and maintaining water and drainage lines.
  • Perform carpentry and general building repairs, including doors, shelving, and other facility components.
  • Perform routine HVAC maintenance, including replacing filters, inspecting equipment, and reporting issues requiring specialized service.
  • Assist with installing, relocating, and setting up machinery and equipment.
  • Document inspections, preventive maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment issues.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies in an organized and serviceable condition.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and production staff to prioritize repairs and minimize production interruptions.
  • Follow company safety policies, operating procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures before servicing equipment and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain clean, orderly work areas and keep access routes clear.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, and production problems promptly.
  • Restock production and maintenance materials and notify supervisors when supplies or replacement parts are needed.
  • Work cooperatively with production and maintenance personnel to support daily operations.
