About The Position

Axis Power is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Lineman to install, maintain, and repair electrical power systems. This role is critical in ensuring reliable energy delivery and requires hands-on fieldwork in a variety of environments, including emergency storm restoration situations. The ideal candidate is experienced in overhead and underground electrical systems and thrives in physically demanding, team-oriented environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a recognized lineman apprenticeship program preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in line work (distribution or transmission)
  • Valid Class A CDL (or ability to obtain)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow technical instructions
  • Ability to climb poles and work at heights
  • Lift 50+ lbs regularly
  • Work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, storms)
  • Stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with storm restoration and emergency response
  • Fiber optic installation experience (a plus given Axis Power’s services)
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Knowledge of switching and grounding procedures

Responsibilities

  • Line Construction & Maintenance Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines
  • Set poles, install crossarms, transformers, insulators, and related equipment
  • String, sag, and clip conductors according to specifications
  • Storm Restoration & Emergency Response Respond to outages and storm-related damage
  • Work extended hours, including nights and weekends, during emergency situations
  • Safety & Compliance Follow all OSHA, company, and utility safety standards
  • Use proper PPE and maintain safe work zones
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and job hazard analyses
  • Equipment Operation Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other heavy equipment
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of tools and vehicles
  • Team Collaboration Work closely with crew members, foremen, and supervisors
  • Communicate effectively to ensure safe and efficient job completion
