About The Position

This job posting outlines the requirements and responsibilities for Lineman C, Lineman B, and Lineman A positions. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (for Lineman C, B, and A).
  • Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience defined as: successful completion of a one year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience, or an Associate degree from an electrical power line school which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience (for Lineman C).
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience as Lineman C or the equivalent experience as determined by the Company (for Lineman B).
  • Successful completion of apprentice lineman training, including B-200 certification written test with a score of 80% or higher and successful completion of hands-on comprehensive demonstrations. External candidates must have a minimum of 4 years line work experience and successful completion of the journeyman pre-assessment (for Lineman A).
  • Valid Class A CDL is required.
  • Must have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (Lineman A) in this family and be qualified through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company (for Lineman C and B).
  • Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression, or vacate the current job classification (for Lineman C and B).
  • Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of Lineman D or the equivalent and shall qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company (for Lineman C).
  • Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of Lineman C or the equivalent and shall qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company (for Lineman B).
  • Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of Lineman B or the equivalent and shall qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company (for Lineman A).

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, maintain, remove and competently inspect underground facilities, conductors, fixtures, structures and other associated equipment on de-energized and grounded overhead and underground facilities under immediate or general supervision.
  • Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under general supervision during the first six months in the Lineman C classification.
  • Assist with work on conductors and equipment energized at secondary voltages to 600 volts under immediate supervision of higher classification.
  • Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under general supervision after six months in the Lineman C classification.
  • Use volt-amp meters, ground meggers, continuity testers and other electrical test equipment associated with line work on voltages up to 600 volts.
  • Apply various kinds of insulating protective equipment on facilities energized only at voltage qualified to work on.
  • Operate cutouts, line switches, reclosers, and other sectionalizing devices, refuse line and transformer devices, test de-energized lines and equipment, and place or remove grounds under direct supervision (progressing to immediate and general supervision as skill dictates).
  • Build and erect equipment mountings (such as regulator and transformer platforms) and build overhead transformer installations.
  • Conduct proper tagging procedures while performing switching of energized circuits.
  • Perform inspection and trouble-shooting of lines.
  • Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.
  • Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
