Advanced Step Apprentice (3rd Step or above)/Journeyman Lineman - Faribault, MN
About The Position
Xcel Energy is seeking one or more 3rd Step Apprentice / Journeyman Lineman to be located at the Faribault Service Center in Faribault, MN. This role involves performing all duties of the Lineman Classification, including work on overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems. The ideal candidate will have a high-level commitment to safety, provide quality customer service, be self-motivated, and possess a positive attitude. The base rate of pay for Journeyman Lineman is $62.27 hourly, with apprentice rates varying based on step (e.g., 3rd Step Apprentice at 70% of Journeyman rate). This position is posted from October 14, 2026, to October 27, 2026.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Degree/diploma from an accepted Line School.
- Valid Commercial Class A Driver's License and meet driver qualification requirements.
- Physically capable of performing all aspects of electric overhead and underground distribution construction, operations, and maintenance work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Presently qualified to be a 3rd Step Apprentice Lineman or higher.
- Self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.
- Demonstrated commitment to work safely and productively.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties of the Lineman Classification.
- Work on overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems.
- Participate in after-hours emergency call-outs.
- Adhere to cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices.
