About The Position

Lineman I Telecom will perform aerial cable installation procedures and techniques including the placement of poles and anchors. This role is responsible for installing and repairing aerial telecommunications cable, safely using hand tools and equipment, and operating mechanized equipment. The position also involves setting up safety perimeters, flagging traffic when required, understanding separation and clearance regulations, and working aloft using climbing hooks and ladders, all while maintaining safe working habits and conditions according to regulations, procedures, and policies.

Requirements

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening
  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed
  • May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
  • May include working nights and holidays as needed
  • May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
  • You are able to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
  • You are able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction)
  • You are able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance
  • Must know the color code system for cable pairs or be willing to learn
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers
  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
  • Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment such as; wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
  • Safely operate mechanized equipment such as; bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and more
  • Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
  • Flag traffic when required
  • Understand separation and clearance regulations
  • Safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies
