This position is posted in a range from Line Mechanic C-A. Successful candidate must be within 30 minutes of the Rogers Service Center. The Lineman A builds upon the skills, abilities and knowledge learned as a Lineman B (or equivalent). The job involves performing all types of work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, applicable to both overhead and underground systems. The role may include miscellaneous, related, and incidental work beyond what is specifically outlined. The Lineman A classification involves installing and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities and all types of line equipment on the most congested types of construction, energized or de-energized. This includes assembling, installing, maintaining, removing, and inspecting conductors, fixtures, and other associated equipment on overhead and underground facilities. The role requires operating cutouts, line switches, reclosers, and other sectionalizing devices; re-fusing line and transformer devices; changing line and transformer taps; and phasing out and/or paralleling circuits. The Lineman A is expected to select proper standard drawings and interpret specifications to proceed with all new construction work and live line work without supervision. This includes making energized cut overs from old poles and equipment to new or temporary installations, and working with live line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine modifications. The role also involves installing and maintaining underground residential distribution and commercial facilities, locating and correcting trouble using specialized tools and equipment, directing crews when assigned, and obtaining, issuing, accepting, and releasing transmission and distribution clearances or permits according to established switching and tagging procedures. Additionally, the Lineman A will instruct customers regarding meter or service locations and advise on service interruptions related to their equipment, direct the work of assisting employees, and assist employees of equal or higher classification. Similar or less skilled work may also be assigned.
