4672 - Lineman Apprentice 1

Black & Veatch Family of Companies

About The Position

Assist linemen with installing and repairing cables and wires used in electrical power and distribution systems, following applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The role may also involve erecting poles and light- or heavy-duty transmission towers. Work includes installing, maintaining, inspecting, testing, and repairing electrical distribution and transmission systems and their related equipment; accessing equipment by climbing poles or using truck-mounted buckets; and working with underground and overhead cables and lines. The position is an individual-contributor craft role in a typical construction-site environment. It is safety-sensitive and requires participation in safety planning, hazard identification, lockout/tagout procedures, and accident or near-miss reporting. Work can involve strenuous physical labor in confined or awkward spaces, on steel frameworks, ladders, and scaffolds, and outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather. Shifts may be up to 12 hours. Bird, a Black & Veatch Company, identifies this as a full-time, non-union craft opportunity. Relocation is not eligible, and visa sponsorship is not available. The company offers health-care benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, a wellness program, paid vacation and holidays after the eligibility period, a company-matched 401(k), and other benefits.
