About The Position

This position is responsible for continuing the flow of finished product from the retorts and/or hydro to the packing area. The role involves verifying machine setup, handling product baskets, inspecting finished goods for defects, and communicating with other team members. The Line Unloader also performs sanitation duties, completes paperwork, and participates in team activities and continuous improvement initiatives. A familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and company policies is expected, along with a willingness to perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Must be able to stand and walk.
Must be able to read, write and understand English.
Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Background in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Verify that the machine is set up properly and review the production schedule.
Bring a full retort basket into the Unloader for unloading.
Inspect finished product for image, odor, color, chunks, and adhesion to the can.
Pull sample product for the lab and supervisors.
Identify any hold tags and any change-overs.
Identify and remove defected products (dented, leaking, no codes, illegible codes) from the system.
Communicate with the Retort Operator, Tray Packers, and supervisors.
Ensure baskets cycle to the loader.
Verify that all suction cups are in good operating condition.
Perform weekly sanitation.
Complete all required paperwork.
Participate as a member of the Team, fostering cohesiveness and resolving issues.
Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems and understand the role in supporting these systems.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
