About The Position

This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters. The Line Operator is accountable for the production of food safe product in a fast paced manufacturing environment, including the start up and shut down of a production line, making mechanical adjustments, and troubleshooting equipment. They are responsible for ensuring all production paperwork is completed, which requires basic mathematical calculations. The role involves containing and proactively addressing potential problems to limit disruptions, and assisting and guiding Food Handlers as needed. The operator will complete SAP documentation accurately and proficiently, ensuring all processing steps are completed and a quality product is delivered. Adherence to Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Policies and Procedures is required through monthly participation in the behavior based safety program and completion of safety and food safety training. The position also involves reporting problems with the food safety management system and has the responsibility and authority to initiate and record actions, as well as acquiring and maintaining knowledge of HACCP/OPRP/PRP (GMP) policies and requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic math such as Addition, Subtraction, Division, and Multiplication
  • Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a repetitive and fast paced environment
  • Ability to rotate through a variety of tasks
  • Availability to work outside of normal shift up to including weekend and off shift hours as needed
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to meet the required work schedule
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 60 lbs repetitively for frequent extended periods
  • Ability to work in varying environments
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must have at minimum High School Diploma
  • Demonstrate basic technical abilities to effectively troubleshoot manufacturing and packaging equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous food manufacturing and/or production experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Track record of safe work history in the past 12 months
  • Willingness to complete training using lab equipment, confined space entry, chemical handling, lifting procedures and procedures for process lines and mixing room
  • Proficiency in SAP

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all production paperwork is completed, which will require basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Responsible for containing and proactively addressing potential problems that may arise in an effort to limit disruptions to production as well as assisting and guiding Food Handlers as needed.
  • Complete SAP documentation accurately and proficiently as well as any other written communication applicable to the job.
  • Ensuring all processing steps have been completed and a quality product is delivered to the customer (all food handler tasks were completed properly; i.e. proper packaging, weights are in acceptable range).
  • Maintain adherence to all Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Policies and Procedures through monthly participation in the behavior based safety program and completion of the monthly safety and food safety training material.
  • Report problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s).
  • Initiate and record actions related to food safety.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of HACCP/OPRP/PRP (GMP) policies and requirements to complete all monitoring and/or verifications tasks as outlined in the Food Safety Management.
