About The Position

The Line Mechanic performs predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment. This role involves analyzing potential failure causes, recommending solutions to prevent recurrences, and implementing improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime. The mechanic will also perform preventive maintenance tasks, participate in the analysis and review of preventive maintenance procedures, and install/replace manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal operating conditions. Interpreting blueprints and diagrams, generating work notifications, and managing maintenance inventory are also key aspects of this role. Additionally, the position requires estimating materials, obtaining quotes, and ensuring environmental considerations and energy efficiency are factored into equipment selection and maintenance. The mechanic will also verify MRO parts, recommend new parts, and update the Bill of Materials. Maintaining a clean and organized workshop and work area, and participating in continuous improvement activities are expected.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electromechanics, or equivalent degree plus 5 years of experience working in operation and/or maintenance of industrial, pharmaceutical, and/or food manufacturing equipment.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the maintenance of industrial or manufacturing equipment (Fillers / tanks).
  • Proficiency in handling and troubleshooting electronics, PLC programming, knowledge of control systems and hardware such as VFDs, HMIs, measurement and/or weight verification equipment.
  • Electrical Maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Systems.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Circuitry.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics.
  • Knowledge of Lubrication Systems.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
  • Ability to Read Schematics.
  • Experience with Robotics (preferred).
  • Experience with Six Sigma (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Performs corrective, mechanical, and electromechanical maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Analyzes potential causes of failures and provides recommendations to prevent recurrences.
  • Makes improvements to equipment to increase productivity and/or reduce downtime.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with established metrics and suggesting improvements.
  • Participates in the analysis and review of preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Installs and/or replaces manufacturing equipment, performs tests and adjustments, and ensures optimal operating conditions.
  • Interprets blueprints and diagrams of parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Generates work notifications in the computerized maintenance system to report completed work.
  • Reports parts used in the maintenance inventory system for spare parts.
  • Maintains and controls assigned tools in good condition.
  • Estimates necessary materials for tasks and requests quotes for materials.
  • Ensures that specifications for parts, products, projects, and services include environmental considerations and selects new equipment with energy efficiency and conservation in mind.
  • Verifies MRO parts needed to keep equipment functional, recommends new parts, and refers recommendations for changes, completing the established document and updating the Bill of Materials in the system with the MRO coordinator.
  • Maintains the workshop and work area clean and organized.
  • Participates in and promotes activities with the Operational Excellence Team focused on continuous improvement.
