About The Position

Eversource Energy is the largest Energy delivery company in New England, supporting 4.4 million customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. This is a Fully Qualified Line Mechanic position. The individual will perform work involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric system. A line mechanic is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment. This includes working aloft on electric utility poles or on ground and pad mounted structures. The selected candidate must be qualified to hold and possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Rubber gloving of high voltage distribution systems up to 23KV is a requirement. The individual will be required, during periods of trouble call assignment, to be available at the reporting base within approximately one-half hour. Bargaining unit employees under the TEAL contract will be given first consideration. Candidates must successfully pass the written assessment and the overhead physical agility assessment.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as a Fully Qualified Line Mechanic.
  • Ability to climb poles skillfully with Lineman’s climbers.
  • Ability to direct the work of others when assigned.
  • Must be qualified to hold and possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Rubber gloving of high voltage distribution systems up to 23KV.
  • Ability to be available at the reporting base within approximately one-half hour during trouble call assignment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be physically able to perform the “essential duties” of the Line Mechanic position.
  • Must be able to effectively interact, communicate, and direct the work of other co-workers.
  • Must be available to perform overtime and emergency work as required.
  • Live within one hour of the reporting location.
  • Successfully pass the written assessment.
  • Successfully pass the overhead physical agility assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hold a valid Commercial driver’s license (CDL) and satisfactory clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Salary range starts at $56.32 and progresses in accordance with the union contract.
