About The Position

The City of Anaheim Public Utilities Department is seeking a highly experienced, team-oriented Line Mechanic to install, remove, maintain, operate, repair, and test overhead and underground high- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems and sub-transmission electrical systems. The ideal candidate is customer-service driven and technically intuitive. The department’s mission is to provide reliable, high-quality water and power at competitive rates through a customer-focused approach. Its goals include maintaining a competitive and sound financial position, enhancing community aesthetics and service quality, ensuring a balanced and cost-effective resource supply, and strengthening system infrastructure. Physical demands include lifting up to 100 pounds, removing manhole covers weighing up to 800 pounds with a mechanical lever, climbing poles up to 75 feet, and performing line work in elevated positions and underground electrical vaults. A valid California Commercial Class A driver’s license with air brakes endorsement is required by the end of probation, and rubber-gloving certification must be obtained within 12 months of appointment.
