About The Position

This is a fully qualified Line Mechanic opening in Pittsfield, MA. The position will require working both indoors and outdoors, and at times under adverse weather conditions. Selected candidate must meet the physical requirements as required by medical placement examination(s); may be required to work a four, ten-hour day work schedule; will be designated a shift worker with Saturday as a work day; and must live within 30 minutes of the reporting location. This is a Union position and qualified Local 455 WMECO employees will be given first consideration. Individuals must be able to perform work assignments at the Line Mechanic level including transmission work, work emergency, and planned overtime when the need exists; acquire a basic knowledge of the Company Safety Manual; have the mechanical ability to use hand/power tools, and equipment pertinent to line construction and maintenance; and have the ability to climb and work on poles, ladders, and other elevated structures. Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Pass the CAST test
Possess a valid driver's license
Obtain/maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Mechanical ability to use hand/power tools, and equipment pertinent to line construction and maintenance
Ability to climb and work on poles, ladders, and other elevated structures
Meet the physical requirements as required by medical placement examination(s)
Live within 30 minutes of the reporting location
