About The Position

Under direct supervision, to do all types of work involved in the construction, rearrangement, operation and maintenance of either transmission or distribution circuits. Under general supervision, in rural areas and occasionally or periodically in urban areas, to locate and correct trouble on energized distribution circuits and overhead series street lighting circuits or perform similar work on de-energized transmission circuits.

Requirements

Qualified Journeyman Lineman with a minimum of at least three and a half years of experience as a lineman.
Good knowledge of Company line practices and standards.
Good knowledge of phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits.
Ability to make polyphase transformer installations.
Good knowledge of the transmission and distribution systems in the assigned area.
Must pass physical abilities examination.
Must pass validated aptitude test.
Valid driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver Policy.
CDL A or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability and willingness to work around hazardous/heavy equipment and energized electrical equipment.
Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Company safety rules and federal, state and local regulations.
Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and remote job sites.
Ability and willingness to work different schedules, on holidays and weekends and overtime as required.
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including all weather conditions, at elevated heights (above 30 feet) and in confined spaces.
Must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
