About The Position

Under direct supervision, to do all types of work involved in the construction, rearrangement, operation and maintenance of either transmission or distribution circuits. Under general supervision, in rural areas and occasionally or periodically in urban areas, to locate and correct trouble on energized distribution circuits and overhead series street lighting circuits or perform similar work on de-energized transmission circuits.

Requirements

Minimum of three and a half years’ experience as a lineman.
Qualified Journeyman.
Good knowledge of Company line practices and standards, phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits, and ability to make polyphase transformer installations.
Good knowledge of the transmission and distribution systems in the area to which the employee is assigned.
Pass physical abilities examination.
Pass pre-employment validated company test(s).
Valid driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver Policy.
High school diploma or GED.
Possess a CDL A (Commercial Driver's License) and a DOT Medical Card.
Ability and willingness to work around hazardous/heavy equipment and energized electrical equipment.
Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Company safety rules and federal, state and local regulations.
Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and remote job sites.
Ability and willingness to work different schedules, on holidays and weekends and overtime as required.
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including all weather conditions, at elevated heights (above 30 feet) and in confined spaces.
Must live within 35 miles of posting location.
