Perform work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, drive and operate line trucks and associated auxiliary equipment. All job duties apply to overhead and underground equipment and facilities. The Line Mechanic C builds upon the skills, abilities and knowledge learned as a Line Mechanic D (or equivalent). This role involves assembling, installing, maintaining, removing, and inspecting overhead and underground facilities including conductors, cables, transformers, fixtures, structures, and other associated equipment. Specific duties include working on energized equipment up to 600 volts, using electrical test equipment, splicing and terminating URD cable, troubleshooting and repairing URD cable and equipment, and potentially covering up or transferring primary conductors and equipment under supervision. The position also includes building equipment mountings, conducting proper tagging procedures, performing inspection and troubleshooting of lines, directing the work of assigned employees, and completing monthly apprentice cards.
