About The Position

This position assists a Line Maintenance Man A in performing operating, maintenance, and construction work on gas service lines, gas mains, and other system equipment. The role may also involve performing duties of lower-rated gas department employees or other related, less skilled work. This position is governed under a collective bargaining agreement with IBEW Local 139.

Requirements

• At least one year’s experience as a Laborer or Meter Reader and have semi-skilled abilities.
• Able to perform routine operations of moderate complexity and variety based on detailed instruction.
• Completed high school or obtained a high school equivalency diploma recognized by New York State.
• Familiar with Company’s Safety Rules, approved methods of resuscitation and able to render practical First Aid.
• Able to qualify for a CDL Class A license.
• Normal health, physiques and use of senses as indicated by passing the required physical examination by a Company designated physician, including color perception.
• Strength adequate for arduous labor in all kinds of outdoor weather.
• Willing to work irregular and/or extra hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision assists Line Maintenance Man A in the performance of all kinds of operating, maintenance and construction work on gas service lines, gas mains and other system equipment.
• May perform any of the duties of lower-rated gas department employees or perform other related or less skilled work as required.
