About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Line Maintenance Engineering Technician to support the Operations and Hardware Maintenance department at the Guam Remote Station (GRS) located on Camp Blaz, Guam. Peraton is the prime contractor for NASA at the Guam Remote Station (GRS), which is one of four operational ground terminals comprising the NASA Space Relay (SR) Ground Segment. GRS provides the Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (TTC) link for two Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) and associated equipment and data paths for missions supported through the SR. GRS, through the NASA White Sands Complex, serves as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists for missions. This position will be responsible for serving as the first line of defense in preventing customer service data loss and anomaly resolution for multiple critical space missions. The role involves performing routine, non-routine, and complex assignments under supervision involving Ground Communications Equipment (GCE) systems related to daily-shift operations and maintenance activities. The technician will receive initial instructions and equipment requirements from a supervisor or engineer, perform recurring work independently or in teams, and have their work reviewed for technical adequacy. Key duties include conducting operational system adjustments, preventive and corrective maintenance actions, evaluating equipment performance with meticulous documentation, identifying and troubleshooting system problems, conducting tests, analyzing results to restore systems and improve performance, and documenting/reporting findings. The technician must comply with operational, maintenance, and organizational procedures and policies, adhere to and recommend changes for technical and process documentation, and proactively seek training to achieve required technical certifications. The role requires reporting to and advising the immediate supervisor on operational, technical, and personnel matters, and maintaining NASA and Peraton mandatory training.

Requirements

  • BS degree and 6 years of related experience or Associate degree and 8 years of related experience. In lieu of degree, HS diploma/GED and 12+ years of related experience is allowable.
  • Prior experience with one or more of the following: satellite earth station and communications systems, satellite link access technology, antenna systems, radio communications and digital signal processing systems, telemetry monitor and control systems; or knowledge of IT network architecture, network protocol standards (TCP, UDP, IP) and computer architecture and operating systems
  • Rotating shift work is required.
  • Must be able to perform tasks under certain time and resource constraints, in difficult surroundings, or conditions
  • Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.

Responsibilities
