About The Position

This position is responsible for hanging all incoming saddles and leg quarters on shackles manually by hand. The role involves picking up saddles from a moving belt and hanging them on shackles, ensuring they are kept full and at the speed of the production line. The Line Loader participates as a member of the Team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. They coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members and attend appropriate team meetings. As a team member, they foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, annual plans, budgets, and policy changes. They accept responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team to resolve issues and reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization. The position holder is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understands their responsibility to maintain familiarity and support these systems, considering the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns and improvement ideas. This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Hanger (Flex Line) and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Requirements

  • Occasional bending at the neck and waist, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
  • Constant standing, simple and power grasping of the hands, fine manipulation/feeling with the hands, repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands, light lifting (up to 7 pounds), use of vision.
  • Inside line work around loud equipment/machines; walking around drains, footbaths, hoses; wet environment, occasional dust.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): earplugs, gloves, hairnet/beardnet, sanitizeable footwear, apron, face mask.

  • Hang saddles and leg quarters on shackles, keeping them full.
  • Hang at a speed of the production line.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
