The Line Loader/Feeder is responsible for moving raw materials from storage areas and components from production areas to work areas. They read work orders/production tickets to determine the appropriate materials to pull and move, and may use carts to transport materials.

Requirements

• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to work in a standing and sitting position for a minimum 8 hours or more per shift.
• Continuous pushing and pulling a wheeled cart containing the units and materials.
• Frequent lifting of units on and off carts.
• Frequent walking, squatting, turning, twisting, pushing, bending, etc. in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment.
• Excellent attendance—must be reliable and punctual.
• Must be willing to work overtime and occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Performs a combination of tasks in order to distribute materials to the rest of the work force as needed in a timely fashion.
• Reads material placement plan and production schedule to plan production for the day and to assure accurate delivery of mattress materials to the rest of the team.
• Lifts and carries materials from trains to 20” high mattress assembly line.
• Sorts and places materials on the mattress assembly line according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
• Records number of materials that are damaged or substituted.
• Interacts and responds professionally to co-worker’s requests.
• Performs housekeeping in assigned area/places all scrap material in baler.
• Safe operation of the baler is important.
