About The Position

The Line Driver is responsible for storing and retrieving goods in the storage area of the workplace. This role involves rotating stock to ensure oldest materials are used first, noting and reporting any damaged goods, and recording inventory changes. The operator will use an industrial forklift and a handheld scan gun/RFGEN for lot tracking to maintain accurate inventory. Working from written or verbal instructions, the operator will pick up, move, load, and unload product on or from trailers while adhering to all relevant guidelines. The position also includes performing minor equipment service, completing daily safety inspections, identifying and reporting problems, changing fuel bottles, refueling forklifts, and troubleshooting repairs. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area, dock, and equipment, adhering to storage design principles, and recommending improvements are also key responsibilities. The operator will create product labels, read and understand lot numbers, expiration dates, ingredient lists, and production schedules. Daily reports must be completed and entered into the computer program efficiently and timely. Basic tools such as wrenches, tape measures, scales, and air and water hoses will be used. Partial pallets will be consolidated as directed. The operator must be able to maneuver a forklift in tight spaces while maintaining a safe work zone for others. This role is a team-oriented position that requires participation in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. The operator will coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members and attend appropriate team meetings. As a team member, the operator will foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues and accept responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working supportively to resolve issues and reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy.

Requirements

Must be able to climb on and off of the forklift.
Must be able to back forklift up safely which requires turning neck and body in opposite direction.
Must be able to lift and stack up to 75 lbs from floor to crown.
Must be able to work in extreme temperatures both hot and cold, wet, dry, dusty environment.
Must be able to sit and walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds multiple times daily.
Knowledge of Julian calendar.
Knowledge of FIFO practices.
Basic computer literacy.
Knowledge of military time.
Knowledge of RFGEN and JDE.
Must be able to obtain and maintain company issued forklift license.
Must be able to read, write and understand English.
Perform basic math.

Responsibilities

Store and retrieve goods in the storage area.

Note and report any damaged cartons, crates or containers.
Record items added or removed from inventory.
Store product by using an industrial forklift and a hand held scan gun/RFGEN for lot tracking to maintain accurate inventory.
Operate a forklift to pick up, move, load and unload product on, or from trailers while meeting department, facility, company, and regulatory guidelines.
Perform minor service of equipment and complete written daily safety inspections.
Identify and report noted problems to supervisor for further inspection and repair.
Change fuel bottles, refuel forklift or troubleshoot repairs as needed.
Maintain the work area, dock and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, adhere to storage design principles, and recommend improvement.
Create product labels for inventory purposes.
Read and understand lot numbers, expiration dates, ingredient lists, and production schedules.
Complete various reports daily and enter required information into computer program efficiently and timely.
Use basic tools such as wrenches, tape measures, scales, air and water hoses.
Consolidate partial pallets as directed by productions supervisor.
Maneuver forklift in tight spaces, while maintaining a safe work zone for other drivers and team members.
Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
Familiarize with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity and the position's role in support of these systems.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
