Operates an industrial sized forklift to receive and transfer product, supplies, and materials from various departments to storage areas while meeting customer regulations and specifications. The operator is responsible for storing and retrieving goods in the storage area of the workplace, rotating stock so oldest materials are used first, and noting/reporting any damaged cartons, crates, or containers. This role involves recording items added or removed from inventory, storing product using an industrial forklift, and utilizing a handheld scan gun/RFGEN for lot tracking to maintain accurate inventory. The position requires operating a forklift to pick up, move, load, and unload product on or from trailers, adhering to department, facility, company, and regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities also include performing minor service of equipment, completing written daily safety inspections, identifying and reporting problems to the supervisor, and changing fuel bottles, refueling forklifts, or troubleshooting repairs. The role demands maintaining a clean and orderly work area, dock, and equipment, adhering to storage design principles, and recommending improvements. Creating product labels for inventory purposes, reading and understanding lot numbers, expiration dates, ingredient lists, and production schedules are also key duties. The position involves completing various reports daily and entering required information into the computer program efficiently and timely. Basic tools such as wrenches, tape measures, scales, air and water hoses will be used. Consolidating partial pallets as directed by the production supervisor is required. Operators must be able to maneuver forklifts in tight spaces while maintaining a safe work zone. Participation as a member of the Team is essential, including ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, and coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices. Attending appropriate team meetings and fostering strong cohesiveness regarding major issues is expected. The role includes accepting responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader, and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization. Familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) is required, understanding the responsibility to maintain this familiarity and the position’s role in supporting these systems, including the impact of individual actions and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Other duties as necessary in support of business objectives will be performed.
