About The Position

We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals according to the menu. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery. The Cook II is responsible for assisting the Sous Chef & Chef with the supervision of Cooks in the Level 1 position, preparation, and presentation of the daily menus (especially high-quality specials, soups, stew, and chilies) and assisting servers with restocking and service of selections at stations where lines develop during peak business hours.

Requirements

  • 5 years of kitchen experience is required.
  • Maintain open, constructive channels of communication with other kitchen personnel.
  • Demonstrate a good attitude and cooperative nature when dealing with kitchen staff, supervisors, and guests.
  • Follow directions from your supervisor and ask questions about aspects of assigned duties you may not understand.
  • Retain composure under pressure when faced with stressful situations.
  • Bring complaints or problems encountered with guests or other employees to your supervisor’s immediate attention for swift resolution.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Willing to work flexible work schedules that may include holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current, valid state-required licenses and or certifications such as Food Handler’s Permit and Sips and Tips.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sous Chef & Chef with the supervision of Cooks in the Level 1 position.
  • Prepare and present daily menus, especially high-quality specials, soups, stews, and chilies.
  • Assist servers with restocking and service at stations during peak business hours.
  • Ensure all dishes are lively in content and flavor, adhering to production standards and time constraints.
  • Ensure preparations are fully seasoned and tasted by Sous Chef or Chef before service.
  • Keep service lines spotless and change pans as needed.
  • Ensure food selections are well-stocked and appropriately garnished.
  • Maintain sufficient quantities of mise-en-place for the day's counts.
  • Attend to details in food preparation and presentation.
  • Be prompt, friendly, and efficient in guest service.
  • Assist servers during busy times to speed guests through lines.
  • Politely greet guests and inquire about their needs.
  • Utilize suggestive selling techniques.
  • Demonstrate proper operation of equipment, knives, and other kitchen tools.
  • Work cooperatively with stewards, knowing them by name and politely asking for assistance.
  • Notify Supervisor of any injury requiring medical attention and work safely to prevent injuries.
  • Break down and clean lines quickly and thoroughly at the close of service.
  • Keep work and service areas clean and uncluttered, especially walk-in coolers.
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of food for freshness and waste avoidance.
  • Label and store leftover products appropriately.
  • Complete daily inventories before the end of each shift.
