About The Position

Arlo Hotels, an independent lifestyle hotel, is actively seeking a dynamic Line Cook. This role is responsible for preparing all menu items during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and event services. The daily focus is on learning and perfecting techniques, speed, and consistency. Line cooks are vital to every outlet.

Requirements

  • 2 years + of line cook experience in NYC at a comparable restaurant or hotel
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to stay on feet for 8 hours plus
  • Good knife skills
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment such as vita prep, robo coup, ovens and burners

Responsibilities

  • Preparing assigned food items
  • Following recipes and portion control guidelines
  • Setting up stations with appropriate par levels and restocking items
  • Ensuring the freshness and correctness of mise en place on their station
  • Preparing ingredients or specific recipes as directed by Sous Chefs
  • Keeping work area clean, sanitized, and organized (including prep tables, sinks, walk-ins, lowboys, floors, dry storage, ovens, and stovetops)
  • Possessing strong cooking skills
  • Understanding how to safely use a variety of food service equipment (knives, pots, pans, ovens, grills, food processors, slicers)
  • Knowledge of and adherence to sanitary food handling procedures
  • Remaining calm and working well under pressure
  • Obtaining Executive Chef taste and sign off on every item prepped before being put away
  • Understanding and practicing proper food cooling and storing procedures
  • Ensuring the tools needed for the station are available and properly stored when not in use
  • Using sharp cutlery at all times
  • Preparing daily prep lists for their station and the prep team's prep list
  • Treating guests with courtesy and respect
  • Delivering outstanding service and creating memorable experiences
  • Coordinating and multi-tasking job duties in an active environment
