About The Position

The Line Cook is responsible for the cost-effective preparation of quality food in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all food preparation and handling policies, brand standards, and regulations. This role requires prompt reporting of any emergencies, accidents, or safety hazards to management.

Requirements

  • One or more years of previous experience as a line cook or similar culinary role is preferred.
  • High school education plus schooling in culinary arts or related major.
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet timing requirements.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and portion ingredients for various dishes, following recipes and guidelines to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
  • Cook and grill a diverse range of menu items, including meats, seafood, vegetables, and sauces, with precision and attention to detail.
  • Set up and organize the cooking station with necessary tools, equipment, and ingredients before service.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure all components of a dish are ready simultaneously, maintaining efficiency during busy periods.
  • Inspect ingredients and finished dishes for quality, taste, and appearance, addressing any issues promptly to maintain food standards.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation practices to prevent cross-contamination, spoilage, and health hazards.
  • Understand menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and plating techniques, and assist with menu changes.
  • Keep the cooking station clean and organized, ensuring proper maintenance of equipment and utensils.
  • Monitor ingredient levels and notify the kitchen manager or chef of any shortages or stock requirements.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team, communicating effectively and maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Be flexible and willing to take on different tasks or responsibilities as needed in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
