About The Position

Bodega Taqueria y Tequila is seeking a Line Cook for their Foggy Bottom location in Washington, DC. This role involves preparing food according to standard recipes, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a customer service or food service role, basic math and cash handling skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a positive work environment, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members during service.
  • Assist team members as needed to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food.
  • Keep managers informed of any issues or challenges encountered during daily operations and work together to find timely solutions.
  • Maintain stock levels of product in workstations, and storage areas including coolers and dry storage.
  • Address any issues or concerns related to food quality promptly and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, flavor profiles, and preparation techniques.
  • Prepare food according to standard recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas.
  • Prepare food items for customers using a quality predetermined method in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Set up station with predetermined required items to service the restaurant.
  • Familiarize yourself with menu items, daily specials, and promotions to effective operations.
  • Perform set up duties to include side stations, storage areas and food handling areas.
  • Prepare and assemble our menu items according to recipes and customer specifications, ensuring plating and presentation match the quality standards set by the menu descriptions.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks utilizing cleaning to adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Oversee food safety practices, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food items.
  • Abide by all Safety rules and ensure they perform each task by practicing safe work habits.
  • Report any type of injury immediately to their immediate supervisor or the Security Officer on duty.
  • Speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with staff and vendors.
  • Read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures.
  • Give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from staff and vendors.
