About The Position

Ya Hala is currently hiring a Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This role works closely with the Sous Chef, Executive Chef, and kitchen staff to ensure menu items are prepared consistently according to Ya Hala’s recipes and quality standards. The Line Cook is responsible for food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and supporting overall kitchen operations. Success in this role requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to food safety and quality. About Ya Hala Located in Southeast Portland, Ya Hala has been serving Portland’s finest Lebanese cuisine since 1999. Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working in a similar kitchen environment
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and prepared for scheduled shifts
  • Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to changing kitchen needs
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize during busy service periods
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to maintain focus and concentration in a busy kitchen environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the kitchen
  • Ability to use fine motor skills and full range of motion for food preparation tasks
  • Ability to see clearly at near and far distances and respond to visual and audio cues
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler’s Card

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards
  • Assist with daily food preparation and production tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation throughout each shift
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control guidelines
  • Complete production logs and assist with inventory tracking when needed
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to maintain smooth service during busy periods
  • Support general kitchen operations including cleaning, restocking, and prep work
  • Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are cleaned and sanitized at the end of each shift
