About The Position

The Academy, part of The Fuller Center School, is seeking a Full-Time Line Cook. The Line Cook is responsible for providing a delicious and nutritious food program for hundreds of children and staff daily. Reporting to the Chef, the Cook works both independently and collaboratively with team members to execute high-quality food preparation and service in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Requirements

  • ServSafe Certification (or comparable certification), or the ability to obtain a Safe Food Handler certification within 60 days of hire and maintain certification ongoing.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Physical capability to bend, stand for extended periods, and frequently lift and carry items/containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, taking direction from leadership and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in food service, commercial kitchen operations, or school meal programs.
  • Familiarity with USDA Food Program guidelines and local Health Department sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef / Food Service Director in the preparation and service of daily meals.
  • Prepare food in compliance with USDA Food Program meal pattern requirements and assist with required program record-keeping.
  • Maintain daily standards of order, cleanliness, and safety in the kitchen, storage areas, and general workspace in compliance with Health Department standards.
  • Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organized, and prepared for monthly inspections with the Food Service Director.
  • Learn and assist in the procedures for weekly food and supply orders.
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store food and supplies delivered to the site.
  • Ensure proper inventory control so that all food and kitchen items are used exclusively for feeding children and staff.
  • Learn and assume the duties of other team members in their absence.
  • Report all maintenance requests to the Food Service Director and Director of Operations.
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively in both nonverbal and verbal styles with all children, co-workers, and guests.
  • Positively represent The Fuller Center to visitors and the public at large.
  • Legibly, accurately, and thoroughly complete all required documentation.
  • Apply acquired knowledge and techniques from training in all ongoing work efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
