About The Position
Grace Farms is seeking a Line Cook and Commons Team Member to join their culinary team. This full-time, hourly position involves preparing and cooking a variety of food items at different stations, learning the menu for efficient service, and maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment. The role requires the ability to multitask, take direction, and contribute to a positive team culture. The Line Cook may also assist with special catering events. The position is based on-site in New Canaan, CT.
Requirements
- Minimum High School Degree or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Line Cook.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with all team members and other colleagues at Grace Farms.
- Must have flexible schedule, as well as the willingness and ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, climb stairs, and stand for an extended period of time.
- Be able to handle hot and cold conditions during food preparation and cooking.
- MUST have reliable transportation as we are NOT near public transportation.
Nice To Haves
- Culinary Degree preferred.
- ServSafe certification is a plus
- Bi-lingual communication skills a plus.
Responsibilities
- Wash, cut, prepare, and cook food, including items such as poultry, meats, vegetables, pizzas, salads, sauces, etc. at stations including but not limited to the grill, pizza oven, salad station.
- Learn the menu to provide accurate, timely service.
- Ability to multi-task and take direction from Lead Line Cook and Chef de Cuisine & Commons Manager
- Verify that prepared food meets requirements for safety, quality, and quantity standards.
- Clean, stock, and restock workstations and display cases.
- Contribute to a team-oriented culture of mutual respect and support for each other.
- Cleans kitchen, storage and workspace area as part of a culinary team committed to promoting and providing a safe and clean kitchen and service environment in keeping with Grace Farms sanitation and cleanliness standards.
- May work special catering events on site, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
