About The Position

Great Performances is seeking a skilled, dependable, and team-oriented Cook to join their culinary team at The Arch – Private Club Amenity Space at 550 Madison. The Cook is responsible for preparing and executing high-quality meals while supporting all aspects of kitchen operations. This role requires a hands-on culinary professional with experience in both food preparation and line cooking. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering exceptional food, maintaining consistency and efficiency, and upholding the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction. Working closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team, this position plays a key role in ensuring a seamless dining experience for members and guests.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in a professional kitchen, café, or food service environment.
  • Proven experience in both cooking and food preparation required.
  • Ability to step in and support multiple kitchen functions as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of basic culinary techniques.
  • Excellent knife skills required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and stand for extended periods (at least 8 hours).
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of NYC Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and safe food handling practices is required.
  • Must be able to provide valid documentation that you are legally eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Execute menu items according to the chef’s standards of preparation, presentation, and portioning.
  • Perform daily food prep, including chopping, portioning, and ingredient preparation.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency throughout service.
  • Assist with kitchen setup and breakdown for daily service.
  • Work collaboratively with chefs and team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.
  • Perform additional duties as required based on the needs of the operation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO).
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and food safety guidelines.
