About The Position

The Lead Line Cook plays a vital role in our kitchen, responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes while supervising other kitchen staff. Friends of Switchpoint is a non-profit organization that has been serving individuals, families, and veterans in Utah who are experiencing poverty and homelessness since 2014. Our mission is to empower those in need by addressing the underlying cause of poverty, providing a comprehensive plan, and supporting their journey to self-sufficiency. Our vision is that every individual embodies their worth and value with self-esteem, hope and abilities restored, thriving in affordable housing.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
Standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Prepare, season, and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
Oversee and train kitchen staff, providing guidance on food preparation and cooking techniques.
Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure all ingredients are fresh and stored properly.
Ensure all dishes are plated and presented to the restaurant’s high standards before they leave the kitchen.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all health and safety regulations, and enforcing strict hygiene practices.
Address any kitchen issues or concerns promptly to maintain smooth operations.
Foster a positive and cooperative work environment by working well with both kitchen and front-of-house staff.
