About The Position

As a Line Cook, you will serve within our ministry by performing various food preparation duties. You will prepare a wide variety of foods for 300+ people, follow recipes, improvise when there is a shortage of ingredients, and prepare components of each dish from our menu. You will adhere to serving portion sizes and basic meal prep procedures, set up and breakdown workstations to serve meals according to a schedule, and ensure that all food prep and storage areas meet established standards. You will maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining area, work with a team of clients, temps, and/or volunteers to do prep work for other shifts, and monitor product freshness using the FIFO method. You will also monitor, organize, disperse, and properly store inventory, lead clients, temps, and/or volunteers when the Supervisor is not present, and assist in loading the van for lunch and dinner transport.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of food service operation experience
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Flexible with menus and meal prep and can problem-solve when ingredients are not available
  • Ability to receive and incorporate instruction, feedback, and coaching effectively.
  • Clean MVR Record
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to stand for eight hours or more a day
  • Must be able to communicate accurate information
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs
  • Comfortable working in both hot kitchen environments and cold, cooler, and freezer environments.
