About The Position

Mountain Creek is a four-season resort offering skiing and snowboarding, a bike park, waterpark, weddings, a mountain coaster, restaurants, and a lodge. Line Cook-Level 1 cooks with some experience receive training from the Chefs while developing food-safety knowledge and cooking skills. The role can produce noticeably more than an entry-level prep cook, with an opportunity to advance to Line Cook-Level 2. The position reports to the Executive Chef and is located at Mountain Creek in Vernon, New Jersey.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic knife skills, including julienning, dicing, and slicing.
Ability to read a recipe, understand it, and execute it with minimal assistance.
1–3 years of relevant cook experience.
Ability to work independently on the salad, fryer, and grill stations.
Ability to handle preparation, cooking, and cleaning simultaneously throughout a shift.
Ability to execute multiple tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
Must be at least 16 years old.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook food according to company recipes and plating standards.
Follow proper food-handling and sanitation procedures and begin training on ServSafe standards.
Handle food preparation, cooking, and cleaning simultaneously throughout a shift.
Prepare salad dressings and marinades, and train in making stocks and mother sauces.
Take direction and training from Chefs in a calm, professional manner.
Handle, prepare, and cook basic proteins—including steak, chicken, salmon, burgers, sausage, and shrimp—to required temperatures and standards.
Begin training in proper food-storage management.
Prepare visually appealing meals and complete items in a timely manner.
During banquets, execute hot cocktail-hour stations, buffet service, breakfasts, and other events.
During banquets, slice and serve meat at carving stations and interact with guests.
