About The Position

This role is responsible for leading a production line by ensuring all team members work together to accomplish goals. The Line Controller is accountable for production line efficiencies, minimizing waste, and consistently following standard work procedures. This position involves completing work orders according to standards, monitoring machines, labels, and sandwiches to produce high-quality products at efficient manufacturing levels.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to operate equipment.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Requires previous assembly work and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude working with machinery.
  • Must be meeting or exceeding standards in current production position for a minimum of 3 months (for internal applicants).
  • Must be able to read and effectively communicate in English.
  • Able to work well with others and have a teamwork mindset; communicate effectively as possible.
  • Able to maintain a good attendance record.
  • Able to keep work area clean, safe and organized.

  • Previous food related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure food safety and integrity.
  • Always follow safety protocols and use designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in required areas.
  • Follow additional tasks as assigned by Production Supervisor or Lead.
  • Collaborate, communicate and learn from people with different backgrounds, cultures, abilities.
  • Execute assigned food safety, quality and continuous improvement activities to support SQF requirements, regulatory requirements and our customers’ requirements.
  • Assist in opening rejects following written procedure, focusing on GMPs.
  • Fill line sanitizer hand dip stations prior to start up with fresh sanitizer. Empty and refill sanitizer at every break and/or when sanitizer becomes cloudy.
  • Follow good manufacturing rules such as sanitizing hands, not touching the floor, etc.
  • Contribute to Lean activities.
  • Work together with production employees, as well as Supervisor, Lead and Mechanic to assemble the lowest cost, highest quality product possible.
  • Scan all materials to assigned work order.
  • Safely operate all line equipment according to recipe line speeds and standard work to ensure line efficiencies are met and waste is minimized.
  • Assist in preparing the production line for startups regarding materials and equipment.
  • Inspect all sandwiches to ensure they are properly prepared for final packaging and labeling.
  • Quickly identify and properly address any deviations resulting from employees not following standard work on the line.
  • Adjust speed of equipment when necessary to maintain quality products and efficient production.
  • Be able to read and verify the work order.
  • Scan or oversee all materials are added to the work order.
  • Verify accuracy of material scans to work orders.
  • Document start and end times of each period and record accurate downtime or meeting minutes on the work order and in Redzone software.
  • Properly turn off equipment before each break and at the end of the day.
  • Verify the material you are using is correct by looking at the recipe and properly filling out the recipe verification sheet.
  • Meet 100% fill rate standards.
  • Change top/bottom film, labels, printer, Julian date.
