About The Position

Performs functions for the assembly operation at Hood River Distillers by performing the following duties: Remove plastic from pallets and load empty glass cases onto ABC, monitor the lines for jams, correcting any problems or notifying an operator when necessary, remove plastic and fill descrambler (Pace machine) with plastic bottles, hand pack cases when necessary, perform quality control inspections throughout the production line, apply corks and capsules, apply codes to cases, load capper as needed, participate in taste testing panels as necessary, secure pallets with strapping tape, check for accurate serial numbers, and add pallet tags. Assist machine operator and production personnel as needed including but not limited to line downtime duties such as repairing damage bottles or transferring bottles to acceptable cases. Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times to include trash removal; breaking down of cardboard; tying of recycled bags. Ensure area is ready for next team member during rotation. Perform all duties in a safe and ergonomic manner as directed. Responsible to know and follow HRD’s quality guidelines for all products. Responsible for following safety guidelines at all times. Perform other duties as needed in production departments. Cooperate with and assist other employees as necessary to ensure efficient run times. Perform all duties in a team like manner. In the floater position monitor cases for proper seal; Assist when a case rolls in sealer; Communicate to operator of palletizer issues; Monitor ABC and Bevco machines for light signals and communicate problems immediately to appropriate personnel; Assist forklift drivers in any way possible to eliminate dismounting forklift if possible; Communicate pallet issues to operator or forklift driver; Help maintain clean safe environment to include cleaning up broken bottles and spills; Hand stack filled cases when needed. All duties shall be performed to company standards and in compliance with HRD’s written company policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written procedures, instructions, short correspondence, memos, safety and quality manuals, and MSDS.
  • Ability to communicate verbal and written correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to follow verbal directions.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts using addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division.
  • Ability to do these calculations using units of American standard measure and metric measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
