About The Position

This role performs diagnostic x-ray procedures on selected anatomical sites within a limited scope. The operator must prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, and follow strict guidelines for radiographic equipment usage. Excellent communication skills are essential for gathering patient data and explaining procedures. The operator must be mentally prepared to work with critically ill patients and maintain patient privacy. Proficiency in record keeping is also required.

Requirements

• Must meet state limited x-ray machine operator requirements for location of practice.
• In South Dakota, requires completion and passing of the Radiology Education Online.
• Maintaining certification through CEU’s (12 credits required every 24 months, to be provided by the supervisor).
• Compliance with current LXMO policy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Trustworthy enough to maintain patient privacy.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures on selected anatomical sites within a limited scope.
• Prepares patients for exams and explains procedures to them.
• Follows strict guidelines about usage of radiographic equipment.
• Elicits patient data and explains radiologic procedures.
• Works with critically ill patients.
• Maintains patient privacy.
• Proficient at record keeping.
• Learns and assists with other duties, including but not limited to, assigning imaging studies to medical chart numbers, assisting RRT (Registered Rad Tech) with patient call backs, and screening questionnaires.
