About The Position

The Department of Systems & Industrial Engineering is seeking an instructor for its Ontological Modeling for Systems Engineering course. This 3-unit course is offered every Fall semester and is taken by systems engineering students as well as other students in the college of engineering who wish to take it as a technical elective. The instructor will prepare lecture materials, student assessments (quizzes, home work assignments, exams, projects, etc.), and deliver lectures remotely. The ideal candidate will have academic and/or industry experience in ontological modeling and application of ontologies to systems engineering. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Requirements

• PhD in an engineering or closely related discipline.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Teach one section of SIE 502 Ontological Modeling for Systems Engineering
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials and guide/lead class activities in Brightspace’s D2L
• Ensure successful delivery of the course's learning objectives through the creation and dissemination of students assessments (e.g., quizzes, homework, exams, projects, etc.)
• Establish and adhere to grading rubrics to ensure students understand grading expectations
• Provide timely feedback to students on their submitted assignments
• If provided, collaborate with Teaching Assistant or grader to ensure uniform evaluation of student work
• Maintain course materials in the University's chosen Learning Management System that is optimized for remote students
• Work with instructional designer to optimize course materials using Quality Matters standards for online learning
