About The Position

This position is responsible for performing medical imaging procedures to assist physicians and other licensed medical providers in diagnosing the disease and injuries of Oyate Health Center (OHC) patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Enrolled in an Accredited Program of Radiologic Technology, and a minimum of two semesters of clinical rotation completed.
  • Current BLS certification for health care providers.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal and background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Compliance with our Employee Health Procedure is a condition of employment. You are required to agree that you will comply with all job-related employee health screening and immunizations prior to your first day of employment.
  • Jobs require that you have documentation that you have completed the following immunizations prior to your first day of employment: MMR (Measles; Mumps and Rubella), Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap (tetanus - Diphtheria - Pertussis), and COVID-19 vaccination is required.
  • Requires the ability to sit for extended period and regularly use standard office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, telephone, and copier.
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials or supplies up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer use and document review.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and hear.

Responsibilities

  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the specified area of the body requested by the physician.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified positions, and determines exposure factors based on height, weight, the portion of the body involved, and the degree of penetration required.
  • Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Performs routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs required by the American College of Radiology.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Maintain effective, collaborative interdepartmental and external relations.
  • Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Performs imaging related duties.
  • Performs the core responsibilities of the position accurately, timely, and in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance consistent with the position’s schedule and operational needs.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required by the role.
  • Adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes required systems, tools, and technology necessary to perform the job.
