Requirements

  • Digital Radiography certification.
  • Certification from an accredited Limited Radiology Technical School.
  • California Limited X-ray Technician License.
  • Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Nice To Haves

  • One year's work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction and supervision of the Radiology Administrator for radiology services and under the direction of the Site Manger providing assistance to the physicians, mid-level providers, head nurse and patient; performs exam and explains procedure to patient.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment.
  • Input patient demographic on radiology software, perform visual inspection of image for exposure factors (contrast, density, positioning, etc.).
  • Process patient billing information to complete patient record, as needed, monitor radiographic equipment functioning and cleanliness.
  • Performs routine maintenance and reports malfunctions to radiology manager/site manager.
  • Inventory and order supplies and supports the mission of DAP Health.
  • Limited Radiology Tech is responsible for knowing their full scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of radiographic examination, positioning, and technique procedure.
  • Obtain consents.
  • Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety.
  • Knowledge of patient transfers and positioning techniques.
  • Explain to the patient the procedures followed in an examination.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct.
  • Prepare and replenish supplies in the radiology suite in orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Identify each patient and review each patient’s requisition, either hard copy of in computer system, for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
  • Assess patient condition, ensures patient safety.
  • Record pertinent data on radiologist requisition/computer at all times. (MRN, Patient Name, Description, Study date, Referring Physician, Gender, Age, Date of Birth).
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to appropriate supervisor, and or communicates pertinent data to person’s responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all images ensures proper identification on all images.
  • Review patients record forms for accuracy and completion.
  • Provides quality care to the patients of DAP Health, within the scope of practice outlined by state or federal law.
  • Delivers care in accordance with established standard of care and accepted community standards.
  • Understands the organization's commitment to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Promotes a Patient centered environment.
  • No X-ray worker shall be used to hold patients for exposure except in an emergency and no person shall be regularly used to hold patients.
  • Careful collimation shall be used to restrict the X-ray beam to the size of the IP plate.
  • Operator must make use of appropriate protection devices, e.g., lead aprons, lead shield, etc.
  • Personnel monitoring devices must be worn when they are provided.
  • The monitoring device must be worn on the collar.
  • Be responsible for clearing the X-ray room of non-essentials persons prior to generating X- rays.
  • Adhere to A.L.A.R.A radiation rule (As low as reasonably achievable).
  • Maintain privacy and security of all patients, employee, and volunteer information and access to such information.
  • Such information is accessed on a need-to-know basis for business purposes only.
  • Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
  • Reports unethical, fraudulent or unlawful behavior or activity.
  • Uphold strict ethical standards.
