About The Position

The Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT)/Non-Certified Radiologic Technician (NCT) provides patient services as a member of the clinical team, using limited imaging modalities. This role performs limited radiographic procedures, applies principles of radiation protection and the ALARA principle, and exercises professional judgment. The technologist provides limited patient care essential to radiographic procedures, recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action, and initiates life support measures. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining good rapport and professional relationships with colleagues and physician staff, ensuring patient flow, maximizing the delivery of quality patient care, and maintaining patient confidentiality. Additional duties include assisting with patient registration, triaging, and other tasks as needed. This job description is not exhaustive and duties may change.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Current certification as an LMRT/NCT for state qualification of employment
Current certification in BLS
PC skills or applicable computer experience
Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology
Ability to work all shifts
Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair or stretcher
Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills
Must be able to see with corrective eyewear
Must be able to hear clearly with assistance
Able to handle emergency or crisis situations
Will be required to wear protective equipment as necessary
Frequently: Sitting, walking, standing
Occasionally: Bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, traveling
Ability to lift 15-20 pounds

Responsibilities

Greets patients courteously, ensures smooth patient flow, and escorts patients after treatment.
Obtains patient history, assesses/triages patients, measures vital signs, and records information.
Positions and hands instruments/equipment to the provider as directed; cleans and sterilizes instruments/equipment after use.
Administers injections, medications, irrigations, and enemas; dresses/bandages wounds and incisions; draws blood; assists provider with procedures as directed (all by provider orders only).
Performs diagnostic tests including eye exams, electrocardiographs, and operates cardiac monitors, oxygen equipment, pulse oximeters, peak flow, and inhalation treatment equipment.
Performs CLIA-waived lab tests, draws blood, and collects, labels, and processes lab specimens for send-out.
Performs occupational medicine protocols using proper techniques and guidelines.
Ensures preparation for pick-up and shipment of specimens to the appropriate laboratory.
Correctly prepares and administers medication, using patient identifiers prior to administration and documenting in required logs.
Removes sutures and/or staples and changes sterile and non-sterile dressings.
Completes medical charts, including services rendered, test results, and supplies used.
Performs patient callbacks, arranges for referrals and testing, and schedules follow-up appointments.
Monitors disposable inventory and places orders for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
Performs quality checks on medical equipment.
Assists with registration and performs additional clerical duties when necessary.
Introduces self to patient and family, communicates with the patient, explains procedures, and alleviates anxiety.
Presents examination education to the patient prior to the exam and gives post-procedure instructions.
Interviews patients to obtain medical history or information regarding the exam and documents it appropriately.
Utilizes shielding/collimation to minimize patient radiation exposure, complies with Radiation Safety Procedures and ALARA principles, and monitors own radiation exposure.
Properly performs radiographic modalities and procedures.
Collects all necessary forms from patients regarding release for the procedure.
Assists in training other clinical staff on patient positioning and radiation exposure guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
