About The Position

The Limited Energy Design Manager at Hunt Electric leads the Limited Energy Design Group, ensuring strategic alignment with organizational goals. This role involves providing leadership and fostering a high-performance environment for systems such as fire alarm, structured cabling, and other low-voltage solutions. The manager ensures compliance with industry standards and acts as a key liaison across divisions to support integrated project delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year degree in electrical technology, telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in limited energy / low-voltage system design and construction, with a preferred minimum of 5 years at Hunt Electric Corporation.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
  • Deep understanding of low-voltage systems design and integration.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 72, BICSI, TIA/EIA, etc.) to include industry standards.
  • Familiarity with design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, FireCAD, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Limited Energy Design Group, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff, supporting systems like fire alarm, structured cabling, A/V, security, nurse call, and other low-voltage systems.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to department and corporate policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Enforce compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC Chapter 7 & 8, NFPA 72, BICSI).
  • Act as a liaison between the Commercial Design Group and other divisions, ensuring clear and effective communication, and providing strategic input to the Director of Engineering.
  • Support coordination between electrical and low-voltage scopes on Design-Build projects.
  • Mentor and develop staff to enhance skills and performance through regular 1:1 meetings, professional development support, and promoting technical certifications and licenses (e.g., NICET, BICSI, AVIXA).
  • Lead staff meetings, assign projects, and monitor group utilization for optimal resource allocation, coordinating resources with other engineering groups to support integrated project delivery.
  • Assist personnel in resolving unexpected challenges and handling emergencies effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships to foster collaboration and resource sharing across divisions and business units, promoting early involvement of Limited Energy design in project pursuits.
  • Manage design and coordination of low-voltage systems, ensuring quality, consistency, and code compliance.
  • Oversee the execution of limited energy design activities, establishing design standards and ensuring quality, consistency, code compliance, and coordination across project disciplines.
  • Develop and track design budgets throughout project lifecycles and review drawings and specifications for quality and compliance.
  • Lead development and implementation of design standards, templates, and SOPs, coordinating with electrical, mechanical, and architectural disciplines.
  • Develop, schedule, and implement technical and professional training programs, conduct performance reviews and provide feedback on merit bonuses.
  • Provide input on departmental strategy, growth, and market opportunities, assisting in the development of internal standards and best practices for system integration.
