About The Position

As a LIHEAP Eligibility Technician / Receptionist, you’ll be a vital first point of contact—helping individuals access critical energy assistance services while keeping daily operations running smoothly. The LIHEAP Eligibility Technician / Receptionist plays a dual role in client support and front desk coordination within the Family Development/LIHEAP program. In this position, you’ll guide applicants through the intake and eligibility process, connect them with valuable resources, and ensure a welcoming and efficient reception area. You’ll work closely with internal programs and community partners to deliver meaningful, timely support to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with office systems
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and care
  • Capacity to travel between sites and occasionally to client homes
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish or Portuguese) are an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources and social service programs is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intake, assessments, and data entry for LIHEAP applicants
  • Provide information, referrals, and guidance on available services and community resources
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal programs to support referrals and client needs
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain essential documentation such as applications, correspondence, and client records
  • Manage front desk responsibilities, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries
  • Schedule client appointments and assist walk-in visitors with timely support
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including reviewing applications and processing correspondence
  • Prepare required reports in alignment with organizational and funding guidelines
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Support administrative operations and perform additional duties as needed
