About The Position

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is seeking a skilled and collaborative Lighting Technician to support our 2026 production season. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in theatrical lighting who enjoys both the technical and live performance aspects of production work. As a Lighting Technician, you’ll help bring productions to life by programming, running, and maintaining lighting systems across one or more shows. You’ll play a key role in executing lighting changeovers, supporting installations, and ensuring the integrity of lighting designs throughout the season.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in theatrical or live event lighting (or equivalent training).
  • Can read and interpret light plots and lighting paperwork.
  • Have experience programming lighting consoles.
  • Understand conventional and automated lighting systems and safe rigging practices.
  • Are a strong communicator and collaborative team member.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, live production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ETC EOS family consoles.
  • Familiarity with LED fixtures, automated lighting (Vari-Lite, High End, Clay Paky), and lighting software such as Lightwright.
  • Experience in a repertory theatre environment.
  • Knowledge of video integration or show control systems (OSC, MIDI, SMPTE).

Responsibilities

  • Hang, rig, focus, and strike conventional and automated lighting, as well as atmospheric effects and video elements.
  • Program ETC family consoles (EOS, Gio, Ion) and run lighting tracks for assigned productions and understudy roles.
  • Execute lighting changeovers and assist with building and installing show-specific lighting and effects.
  • Maintain and repair lighting and video equipment inventory and ensure workspaces remain organized and functional.
  • Work closely with Lead Electricians, Assistant LEs, video teams, stage operations, and other production staff.
  • Maintain accurate show paperwork and communicate clearly with team members throughout the production process.
