About The Position

Blue Man Group Orlando is seeking on-call Lighting Technicians to cover the lighting responsibilities of the show. The Lighting Technician crew members report to the Head of Lighting & Video for show notes and maintenance needs. This role requires effective oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and within established deadlines. The position also requires the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, as all crew positions work cross-departmentally.

Requirements

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong working knowledge of lighting equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot, identify, and repair lighting technologies.
Flexible schedule with communication skills.
Knowledge and operation of High End Systems HOG lighting consoles.
Experience operating video consoles during a live show.
Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show.
Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show.
Participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods.
Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support.
At least 2 years of previous experience, or in a similar environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate via headset.
Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility.
Verification of the right to work in the United States for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization.

Nice To Haves

GrandMA 3 Console knowledge is a plus.
Knowledge of Video systems is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theater or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

Provide show coverage on the Lighting track.
Adhere to all Scheduling, Department, and Company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and as directed by the Lighting & Video HOD.
Communicate all scheduling requests and challenges in a timely manner.
During the running of the show, perform all duties as outlined on the run sheets (including preset, show cues, turnover, and post-show) in a safe, professional, timely and efficient manner.
Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
Assist with the maintenance and repair of all technical elements of the show under the Lighting & Video Department jurisdiction.
Participate in work calls or department meetings.
Execute general repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and/or restock of supplies and equipment as needed.
Support systems for the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of workspaces.
Adhere to safety rules and regulations for locality and department.
Support gigs, trainings, rehearsals, and marketing events.
Participate in load-in and load-out and lend assistance to other departments as needed.
All other work-related duties as assigned.
