About The Position

Position Summary The Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver is currently seeking part-time lead lighting associates to assist with the execution of events at the Newman Center. Lead Lighting Associates are responsible for assisting the Production Coordinator- Lighting with preparation and execution of technical requirements for Newman Center events. This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Essential Functions Support the Newman Center Lighting Production Coordinator with backstage event operations. Assist the Lighting Production Coordinator with preproduction and day-of-show tasks for large events Serve as the lead lighting personnel when the Lighting Production Coordinator is not available for events Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Provide excellent customer service for all Newman Center participants and patrons. Recognize and respond effectively and efficiently to emergencies. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Able to work both individually and as part of a team. Expertise in area of specificity and able to maintain all required certifications and licensures as they pertain to the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with theatrical/performance lighting systems, lighting control consoles
  • Ability to read lighting paperwork, e.g. lighting plots, instrument schedules, cut sheets, etc
  • As required for specific roles needed on an event-by-event basis.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ Years experience with theatrical/performance lighting systems, lighting control consoles
  • Experience with setting up and programming moving lights and lighting network (DMX)
