About The Position

Join HGA's National Lighting Design team shaping spaces with purpose and impact in our Milwaukee, WI office. Are you passionate about the art and science of lighting design? HGA is seeking a Lighting Designer to join our Milwaukee office and collaborate on innovative, sustainable projects across healthcare, arts, education, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural engineering, interior design or related field
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience designing the lighting design for commercial, institutional and healthcare facilities
  • Ability to perform lighting calculations, layouts, detail design, fixture selection, reports and presentation creations for lighting projects
  • Experience using Outlook and Microsoft Office (or similar software)
  • Working knowledge of AGI
  • Proficiency with Revit
  • A strong foundation in lighting design principles and technologies
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit
  • Interest in sustainability and data-driven design

Nice To Haves

  • LC or PE designation preferred
  • LEED AP Preferred
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator a plus
  • Experience in Rhino 3D, Sketchup or other 3D visualization programs a plus

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and designers to create holistic lighting solutions.
  • Execute design development with technical analysis and creative input.
  • Contribute to sustainable, high-performance environments that go beyond net-zero.
  • Interact regularly and effectively with internal and external clients, contractors, building officials and other team members, both local and remote.
  • Collaborate with lighting teams in various project types.
  • Support design projects with exceptional design thinking, project imagery, design research, and project documentation.
  • Perform lighting calculations, layouts, detail design, fixture selection, reports and presentation creations for lighting projects.
  • Work on multiple projects and manage workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Work independently as well as interact effectively with others (including architects, interior designers, and electrical engineers).
